Game of Thrones

Game of thrones is an american fantasy-drama made by HBO and it is based on 6 novels written by George R.R Martin, and to start with the audience since the TV series was adapted from a novel series the TV series already had a following because the books would of drawn original fans in, and that has brought a broad and active international fan base and in 2012 Vulture a New York based Magazine ranked the Fandom of just the books as the most devoted in popular and an interesting fact is that the US president Barrack Obama is a huge fan of the books and the TV show.

now on to what kind of audience watches Game of thrones the TV show has a lot of R rated scenes in their programming and with that the automatic age is 18+ which just means its meant for a mature audience(source-http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0944947/?ref_=nv_sr_1) which is perfect because of the mature story lines and lets say controversial scenes in some of the episodes because when the first seasons started out the TV shows in nearly every episode included full frontal nudity but as the TV show continued on most the actors refused to do any more nude scenes because they didn't just want to be known as one of them actors that will strip naked at a whims notice and that ties me onto my next subject which is the gender the TV shows is aimed at which is well mainly aimed at males because of the violence and nature off the show but there is some girls who probably watch the show but I think that the main gender for the whole of the show would be male because as I said in the first season to the second season there was more action and a little less story than the current seasons and also there was the full frontal nudity part and the sex scenes comprised in basically nearly every episode when the show first started but when I said girls might watch it I am saying that because even in the first few seasons there are a lot of strong female characters you have the mother of dragons Daenerys Targaryen who from the very start especially in the first season overcame her older brother who was deranged and thought that he would one day rule the seven kingdoms and any time Danny disobeyed her brother she would either get hit but once she married her husband she learnt the dothraki ways she learned to be a calisi a queen in there culture that just what they call a queen so she grew stronger and more confident in her self and realised that her brother would never be able to take her home so she decided that she would and now in the latter season ( 4 ) she became queen of a city in the east so she has not yet returned home but she is one of the main strong female character in the TV series and I  guess girls or women could look up to her and example of the female side could be that Madonna a global pop star dressed up as Danny
It's not the best example but it will do. but what it just shows is that a global icon like Madonna can sometime just dress up as a strong person on a TV show

the audience culture of the show well the show love to go to big with the sets and all the different kinds of culture that happen in the TV shows I mean they have been nearly everywhere in the world to create sets and in the background of the sets the back characters are dress in loads off different stuff with all kind of culture just mixed into the show I wouldn't say that it just aims it at one it has got something for everyone. examples of this are below with different sets and different culture in the show.

The image above the filming location they shot this in is dubrovnik, croatia and they shoot in loads of location with all kinds of culture some of these are places like: Shane's Castle, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, UK, Medina, Malta, Doune Castle, Doune, Stirling, Scotland, UK with all these locations they just like to make us think that it's an actual world but culture doesn't mean were they film its what shown in the film and with the large nature of a show like game of thrones and all the different places they have in their own world that bring a lot of different people and different religions and because of the created religions they wont offend any actual religions so they do have a positive there.

for the social class of  games of thrones in England it is just shown on sky Atlantic and that what I am going to base it on what social class can easily afford a sky package and they are around £22 but you have to pick what social class would watch it, well any class could afford to watch it but the story of the show is more mature and adult so just for the story of the show and the kind of people that would understand it I would say C1, B and A them social classes are the following - A - Upper Middle class, B - Middle class and finally C1 - Lower middle class and I chose them because at C1 you have teachers and assistants which would appreciate the story better because they are smarter and would not just be interested in the action like the other social classes and that continues with the upper one from C1 but saying all of that I think more people are just interested in what happens on screen so the action and the drama so with that the majority of the audience would be the classes lower than C1 so the classes are: C2 skilled working class, D - working class, E - The lowest level of subsistence.

well to continue on as I was saying about location in the show the writers like to constantly go to new locations and new places in the recent season a location they chose was beautiful and the set the created in the location was unbelievable an example of this location and the set the created is below.

obviously this is just a set and probably a lot of green screen but it was an actual location this was set in Morocco, France. so must of what you see behind that giant statue is an actual place just edited a little.

In this TV show the sexual orientation of the audience is Heterosexual because the show does have a lot of more mature scenes that male Heterosexuals will prefer but them scenes where more known to show up when the show was first starting out rather than the current series which is because most of the Female actresses have refused to do any more full on nude scenes I cant speculate as to who or why but I still feel that the majority of the audience is Heterosexual.

Game of thrones fans and others the next part will be about the codes that make meaning for the audience
what i mean by that is thing like what you hear or other known as aural and what sort of thing they say and will them things offend anyone and the other one is visual all them thing fall under the language codes section and first where going to start with aural the definition of this is Of, relating to, or perceived by the earthat's just the sort of things you hear the language of the music and the way they say it or whatever
and with game of thrones like other shows they love making you hear what is happening and use all the right language with the scenes they do.

the visual representation Game of thrones gives their audience with all there different styles in the show just looking at some of the characters you can automatically tell if there poor or rich or high born or a knight just by the way they dress examples of this are  the following just looking at one main character John snow in the first season you can tell he was a fighter and a bit scruffy.

he is the one standing behind the kid he looks high born but he is not and that's not a really good example but they are form the north and the clothes they where all warm and cuddly so they keep warm in the winter but still respectable on the other hand you have the High born in the warmer parts of the kingdom such as kings-landing.

In the above picture you can see the difference them two characters are more less dressed and more well comfy and well it's summer clothing and just this visual things tell you thing about different characters and where they live and what they do where they live and how much money they have.

with game of thrones the show has two amazing writers and since it is based on a book they have the writer himself working on the TV show and an amazing director with all these people working on the show they do there job really well because every single episode tells a story with the development of the characters the camera work of the show and with that in mind an example of amazing CGI and camera work is the picture below.

that camera angle just says so many thing about the vastness of the show and how bad-ass the characters are just by this one shot and this was in season 3 this goes into the development of the style of the show from the very start the show had the story there just people where watching it for the wrong reasons and the actors where getting fed up of just being known as people who would strip naked and as the show progressed it became more about the story and the characters of the show and less about all the sex and nudity in the show and I think that the audience grew because of that.

the soundtrack of the show well the most iconic sound the show has produced is the opener music it has become so recognisable that people are doing covers of it and the actual song is below
the song is called coat of arms and it is the most recognisable piece of music that has come out  of game of thrones.

with all this stuff finally I think the reason why the audience of the TV show actually watch the show well in my own opinion I think the majority watch it because of the story the show has I mean with all the different characters like The Starks, The Lannisters, The Targaryen's and others there are other houses but the stories that the writers of the show produce you have Dragons, Giants, mammoths and bid wolfs called dire wolfs that just the SC-FI side of the show so that the stuff for the SC-Fi  audience there is a lot more supernatural elements in the show but I don't want to talk about it for ages now back to why they watch it again I think it's the story you have a crippled boy who is searching for a mysterious supernatural force. you have a little girl looking for revenge, a mother of dragons looking to rule, a house of lions looking to be dominant with all these things and the pure size of the show and the ability to tell a story I think it is because of the story and I am stiking with it.
